Curriculum

Marc A. Viredaz is a Swiss citizen, born September 14, 1965. He received the title of ingénieur diplômé en microtechnique (M.Sc. equivalent) from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne (EPFL) in January 1989. From 1989 to 1991, he worked as an architect and hardware designer of the K2 distributed memory parallel processor at the Integrated Systems Laboratory (IIS) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Zurich (ETH). From 1992 to 1994, he was a Ph.D. student at the Laboratoire de Microinformatique (LAMI) of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne (EPFL). He received the title of docteur ès sciences in July 1994. The aim of his Ph.D. thesis was the design, implementation, and analysis of the MANTRA I machine, an SIMD accelerator for artificial neural network (ANN) computation. From 1994 to 1995 he was a scientist at NEC Research Institute, working on the MICA project. He joined DEC Western Research Laboratory (WRL) in October 1995. DEC became part of Compaq in June 1998.

His current research interests include computer architecture, parallel systems, and low-power computing.

Publications

Marc A. Viredaz holds 15 refereed international publications. He also wrote a few national publications, a Ph.D. thesis, and several technical reports.
