JDN's books
This book published in 1983, is now partly obsolete. It explain in detail
arithmetic, architecture and CALM assembler syntax. Examples are
inspired on the Z80 and 68000.
Published in 1986, this book is a very didactic and exhaustive survey
of the bus principle. It of course does not mention the recent PCI bus.
Published in 1987, the focus is on 5 8-bit micros and 2 16-bit micros
of that time. The first chapters introduces architecture and CALM.
Too expensive, this book had a very limited diffusion.
This 1991 book is still used at the EPFL for teaching digital systems.
All the basic digital designs are well explaind, in order to help
the designer of discrete or VLSI digital interfaces.
The book includes as an appendix the TTL/HC-MOS family of circuits,
plus RAM and ROMs pin-outs. There are several errors in figures and
text. Ask for the Errata (printed form, not on the Web).
Same book in English
Same book in Italian, will many errors removed thanks to the
careful translation of Francesco Gregoretti (Politecnico Torino)
J.D. Nicoud April 1997.
