Smile NG installation
If you have downloaded the .zip file version of Smile NG, you must uncompress it first (for example with
WinZip, although any program that can read .zip files will do), producing the setup.exe installation program.
The setup.exe program will install Smile NG on your hard disk, by default in c:\SmileNG.
In the install directory you will find smileng.exe, the help file smileng.chm and the following subdirectories:
-
modules includes the download and format conversion plug-ins
-
proc contains the processor definition files, as defined by P. Fäh
-
ref is for the processor reference files. You may put your own .ref files here
-
rok11 includes several rok11 programs, as documented in Rok11 kit
.
Rok11 programs are either downloaded through the serial line (up to 115'200 bits/s), or loaded into the SIMPROM,
a 27128 EPROM emulator developed by O. Saudan and used by the students at EPFL for their HC11 lab (1 Mbit/s). A
slower option is to burn a 27128, 27256 or 27512 EPROM with a correctly interfaced programmer accepting the S9,
Hex or binary format.
-
picgenial include the program samples for the tutorial PIC
génial (texte en français). The PICgénial programmer for the 16F84 and other PIC processors was initially developed by Daniel Roggen.
-
picsmart is not yet available, and will be the english version of picgenial
When SmileNG is loaded, select the configuration script you wish to use from the menus "tools" - "configure" - "name".
The selected script name is written on the bottom left of the screen. Do not modify the scripts if you do not
understand completely their syntax. Replace lpt1 by lpt2 if you are connected on lpt2.
