These images have been acquired in Zagreb with our first prototype
equipped
with one 1 GHz antenna (more info).
Each
set of measures consists of n A-Scans covering a surface of 40 cm by 40
cm where a live mine have been buried.

Due to the vegetation the antenna was carried at 10 to 15 cm above the ground level, instead of the maximum of 2 cm we have used in our laboratory tests (remember that the antenna has been conceived to be sliding on the ground). At that height the weight of the antenna causes also difficulties to keep the antenna at constant height and to do a scan with sufficient density. Problems with the radio modem also caused drop-out in the data set (no data corruption, because we use a CRC, but some traces are missing).
For these reasons we warn you that these data cannot be considered as having the same level of quality as the one taken in the sandbox. Use them to check if you can read the new data format and for preliminary tests before we give you new data acquired with our new prototype (DETEC-2), which solves a lot of these problems.

The SEG-2 format being not adapted to the storage of an area scan, we have used our own file formats. To download these binary (2-3 Mbytes) files using Netscape, just click on the file name with the right button and choose "Save this Link as ...". A MATLAB routine is available to read these binary files (chkascan)
These files are also available via FTP at diftp.epfl.ch in the pub/detec directory.
